MISSION STATEMENT
To create a unique, intergenerational theater that would work
closely with the city to enhance its events and foster a new
awareness of, and opportunities in the performing arts for the
community of Broadview Heights as well as the Greater Cleveland
area.
HISTORY
The Broadview Heights Spotlights Community Theater was founded
in the Fall of 1998. Through a publicity campaign, sponsorships
were acquired for initial start-up expenses and the kick-off event
was held in October of that year. The theater produced its first show
in December 1998 -- a successful Christmas production. In
November, 2003, the City of Broadview Heights granted the
Spotlights use of a vacant building on its city campus. With the help
of volunteers, the former group home was converted into a Cultural
Arts Building which includes a 63-seat performance studio. The first
show in the Cultural Arts Building was produced six months later.
2008 marks the Spotlights 10th Anniversary.
